We enjoyed a wonderful evening of music this Saturday at Wymondham Abbey in support of the Sue Lambert Trust and Community Food Assistance Programmes. The Abbey is an absolutely gorgeous venue to play and the band went all out with a repertoire full of classics, jazz and musicals. We also took full advantage of the impressive church organ to perform a movement of the dramatic Saint-Sáens Organ Symphony to finish the concert.

A huge thank you to the Rotary Club of Norwich St Edmund for inviting us to play and organising such a lovely evening for such worthwhile causes.

Norwich City Concert Band celebrates 25 years with Anniversary Concert!

We are getting ready to celebrate!

2022 represents a significant milestone for Norwich City Concert Band (NCCB) as we celebrate 25 years of making music. Originally founded by four members of a local wind ensemble the band now comprises of over 50 members ranging from their early 20’s through to retirees. Since our first concert in 1997 we have been working hard to bring the joy of live music to the residents across Norwich, Norfolk and Beyond! We are immensely proud of the what we have achieved over the last 25 years which includes playing for Dutch royalty, recording 3 professional CDs, touring in the UK & Europe and being instrumental (forgive the pun!) to a circus routine during the Outthere Festival. We also have a proud history of supporting local charities with over £30,000 raised to date and rising!

Like many of our fellow community concert bands we have been recovering from a tough couple of years due to the pandemic. Looking back over that period we had many nervous committee meetings unsure of what the future held for the band but always optimistic we'd be back playing together again. The biggest takeaway from that period was the sense of family and support that transcended through the members. It would have been too easy for us to drift apart and not communicate, but instead, the exact opposite happened! For nearly 15 months our regular Wednesday rehearsals were replaced by ZOOM quiz nights, coffee (and Gin!) catch ups and just a general forum to chat about the band's future. For many, this became an important highlight of their lockdown week.

"It will take more than a pandemic to stop us making music!"

To celebrate 25 years in style we would like to invite you to join us on Saturday 15th October at the stunning St Peter Mancroft Church Norwich as we celebrate a significant milestone at our anniversary concert!

Throughout this exciting evening, we’ll be taking concertgoers on a musical journey through the band’s history performing some well-known pieces celebrating our 25 years of music making.

    Tickets £10 Adults/ FREE U16s or Students

Tickets can be purchased online from our
website. Alternatively, you can purchase tickets on the door.

Finally, all the above would not have been possible if it wasn't for the continued support and enthusiasm of our local audiences for which we are very grateful. We hope you get an opportunity to join in with our 25th anniversary festivities! There is a lot to look forward too!

Band Announces Local Charity Support for 2022-23

It's essential that we do our bit to look after those who need it most...

As a ‘community lead band’ we understand how important it is to actively engage in supporting our local community. Pre-pandemic band memebrs would vote each year to support a local charity. Having had 2 years away from the the band room we've decided this year to support the local charity EACH (East Anglian Children's Hospice's), helping to raise donations and supporting their cause in whatever way with can through the music we make.

Our chosen charity EACH support families and care for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk. We look forward to working with the EACH team now and throughout next year.

    We're back bigger and better!

Tonight we came together to make music in Mile Cross Methodist Church for the first time since March 2020!

It's been 15 months since we last played together as a band ? but finally last week we came back together to make music again ?? Long may it continue!

As you can see from the photo, we're staying socially-distanced it takes some getting used to! Nevertheless, we made excellent progress on the music for our first gig 'Orquesta de Malabares' as apart of the OUTTHERE FESTIVAL 2021 an International Festival of CIrcus Arts held in Great Yarmouth annually...

Don't miss the band on Sat 18 & Sun 19 Sept 2021 St Georges Park Great Yarmouth.

    We need your support!

    ?We need your support! ?

Like many community groups the COVID 19 pandemic has meant we haven’t been able to perform during 2020. Norwich City Concert Band plays an active role in the local community nurturing talent and spreading musical joy across the county. The pandemic has severely reduced our income and we need your support so we can future-proof the band and provide our local community with bigger and better services.

Every year we devote all of our concert proceeds towards fundraising for a chosen local charity/community group and over the last 20 yrs we have raised in excess of £22,000 for local charities.

We have been approved by the Broadland District Council Community at Heart Lottery as a good cause for its newly launched community lottery scheme.

You will have a 1 in 50 chance of winning a prize of up to £25,000 for a £1 weekly stake. You support will help us to finance outgoings such as insurance that is continuable payable and develop new project when we are able to meet again. 50p from every £1 ticket sold is paid directly to the Band.
